About our walks

Each walk is planned by a leader who is responsible for the route taken and is in overall control of the walk. We usually meet on the top level of the Pavilion Gardens Car Park, Buxton at 9:30am for medium and long walks or 10:00am for short walks. Walks either start there or cars are used to get to the start of the walk. Walks will finish sometime between 3:00 and 5:00pm, depending on length, so a packed lunch and drink is recommended. Whilst cafes and/or public houses may feature on some walks, in general they should not be relied upon.

You will not need sophisticated mountaineering equipment however the terrain can be rough underfoot so walking shoes or boots are recommended. Also the weather can be changeable so we advise bringing warm clothing, waterproofs and a small rucksack to carry it all. If you are likely to travel in someone else's car, please bring a change of footwear or boot covers. As part of their risk assessment leaders would not allow you to join a walk if they felt that you were not adequately equipped or prepared. If you have any doubts regarding your equipment, please discuss them with the leader.
